Description
Dumler & Breiden Vase | West German 108-22
This Dumler & Breiden vase is a particularly striking example of mid-century West German pottery. The unusual hourglass silhouette gives the piece a strong sculptural quality, while the combination of lime, lemon and speckled grey creates a distinctive vintage appearance.
The vase is marked 108 22 GERMANY on the base and was made in West Germany. Its proportions give it a wonderfully balanced appearance, with the narrower centre drawing attention to the colourful bands around the body.
West German 108-22 Vase
The design combines a textured speckled grey ceramic ground with contrasting bands of lime and lemon yellow. The result is colourful without becoming overly busy.
The tall, gently curved form would work particularly well displayed on a mid-century sideboard, shelving unit or console table. Equally, its sculptural shape means it looks effective as a decorative object without flowers.
