Description
Scheurich Fat Lava Vase West Germany 242-22
This striking Scheurich Fat Lava vase showcases the bold style of West German pottery from the 1960s and 1970s. The rich chocolate-black glaze provides a dramatic background for textured brown and cream bands.
The vase has a strong geometric shape with an organic pattern. The contrasting glazes add depth and texture. In addition, the pattern continues around the entire body, so the vase looks impressive from every angle.
The base is marked W. Germany 242-22. This confirms its West German origin. The vase is a wonderful example of the distinctive pottery produced during this period.
Its neutral colours work well with many interiors. For example, it would suit a mid-century modern, Scandinavian, industrial or contemporary setting.
Display the vase on a shelf, sideboard or console table. It also looks striking with dried grasses or simple foliage.
